For 2010, Harley has added a new model to the Sportster family. The name of this model is the XL 883N IRON 883. The Iron 883 has been well received by the motorcycle community. This is evident in the numerous reviews that offer very positive feedback of this specific model. The 883 Iron comes equipped with a blacked-out engine, covers, fork and wheels. The handlebars are drag-style. Also, this particular bike comes with old-school front fork gaiters and a chopped rear fender. Customization is also available. The overall length of the bike is 85.5 in. and the overall width is 32.3 in. It has 3.9 in. of ground clearance and a 31 degree rake. The engine is air cooled and it has 53.9 cu. in. of displacement. The bike's torque is 55ft. lbs.@3500 RPM. The torque on this bike is substantial seeing as the bike, itself, is not very big. Fuel economy is solid at 60 highway and 45 city. The Iron uses what is known as the Evolution engine. This engine was developed and used in Harley's back in 1984. The Evolution's inspiration came from both the Shovelhead and Ironhead engines.

The Evolution offered better displacement while being proven for reliability and durability. One of the great things about this bike as well as other new Harley's is that the electronics on the bike are well hidden and therefore do not compromise the style and appeal of the bike. The Iron has both lowered front and rear suspension as well as a low seat. The bike is very easy to maneuver as a result of being closer to the ground than other Harley models such as those from the Touring family. Controls on the Iron are easy to use and allow for a comfortable ride. The pegs on the bike sit in the center which does away with concern in regards to how easy it is to feel relaxed on the Iron.

Multiple reviews have shown good will towards the Iron 883. One reviewer at Motorcycle Cruiser explains that "fuel delivery is spot-on and seamless in all situations". This particular reviewer also goes on to say that throttle response is instantaneous. His exact words are "Just twist and go, there's never a hesitation". Immediate throttle response is always reassuring because there becomes less concern in regards to things like merging onto the Interstate.

In another review done by Ultimate Cycling, Alan Tecchio claims that "throwing a leg over the 2010 Harley-Davidson 883 Iron is one of the easiest things you will ever do". This will certainly prove as a relief for those who would like to own a Harley but show concern as to whether or not they will be able to wrap their body around what is usually considered a bulky machine. This bike is considered to be quite nimble and very capable of being maneuvered. The reviewer goes on to say that this particular model is priced well and will offer that cool and intimidating look without breaking the bank. Finally, Autoblog.com offered insight into what the bike represents by getting an opinion straight from the source. Mark-Hans Richer, Harley-Davidson 's Chief Marketing Officer, claims that the "It's got old school style, a new school ride and gives the owner a platform for creative customization."
