The 2010 V-Rod Night Rod Special is derived straight from the drag strip. The V-Rod Night Rod has special features such as a speed-screen visor. It also sports slick racing stripes. The length and stance of the bike display its direct relation to Harley Davidson's race prepped drag bikes.

The 2010 Night Rod's engine has a black powder-coated power train with black covers. The straight-shot exhaust on the Night Rod has brushed finish dual mufflers with black end caps and exhaust shield. The front fender has black brace supports. The speed screen visor is color-matched to the rest of the bike. The handlebar on the harley motorcycle is stainless steel, low-rise drag-style. The mirrors, rear shocks and controls are all black. The frame is black and there is a two-piece, two-up textured seat.

The clutch on the 2010 Night Rod is race-bred and has a "slipper" action that eases drive train effort when downshifting is necessary. Footpegs and controls on the Night Rod are forward-mounted. An Anti-Lock Braking System is an option on the V-Rod Night Rod.

The engine on the Night Rod is a liquid-cooled, Revolution V-Twin. The valves on the bike are overheard cam. There are 4 valves per cylinder. The displacement on the engine is 76.28 cubic inches. The compression ratio is 11.5:1. The fuel system uses Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. The lubrication system is wet-sump and is integrated with the powertrain crankcase. The clutch is 9 plate, wet with assist and slip. The transmission is a 5-speed.

The chassis on the V-Rod Night Rod has a steel perimeter upper frame with hydroformed main rails and bolt-on lower frame rails that are MIG welded. The swingarm is polished, one-piece cast aluminum with a black powder-coat finish. The front forks are wide 49 mm and custom. The rear shocks are preload adjustable. Wheels are black, slotted disc cast aluminum. The brakes have 4-piston calipers in the front and rear. The rotors are patented, one-piece floating with uniform expansion.

The V-Rod Night Rod's fuel economy is 34 city and 42 highway. The battery is a sealed, maintenance-free, 12 volt that uses three-phase charging. The starter is electric with direct drive motor engagement. The headlamp is quartz with a 55-watt low beam and a 60-watt high beam. An indicator lamp on the bike flashes low oil pressure, engine diagnostics, coolant temperature, low fuel warnings etc. The dimensions of the bike include a length of 94.40 inches, an overall width of 34.60 inches, and an overall height of 45.50 inches. Ground clearance is 4.20 inches. Rake is 34 degrees and fork angle is 36 degrees.

Harley-Davidson Dunlop Series radial black walls in the front and rear come standard on the 2010 Harley Davidson V-Rod Night Rod. Fuel capacity on this bike is 5 gallons. Oil capacity is 5 quarts and coolant capacity is 2.5 quarts. Colors available for the Night Rod are two-tone and include Black Denim/ Brilliant Silver with Denim Racing Stripe, Vivid Black/Brilliant Silver with Pearl Racing Stripe, and Vivid Black/ Mirage Orange with Pearl Racing Stripe.
