The 2010 Heritage Softail Classic is a good example of a bike that is tricked out in a touring style but manages to retain the functionality of a lightweight, easy to handle, bike. Features such as studded saddlebags and a removable windshield indicate that this bike has removable parts and can be interchanged between a touring style bike and a regular cruiser. This convenience adds a certain appeal to this particular model.

The 2010 Softail Classic has a fuel tank sender that gives accurate fuel-level readings. It has a black powder-coated power train with chrome covers. A chrome exhaust with dual staggered shorty mufflers is a nice touch. Certain nostalgic touches include a seven-inch ball headlamp, chrome directional light bar, and a chrome tank console with retro speedometer face. An ergonomic stainless steel classic touring handlebar inspires comfort and functionality. The seat is a two-piece, two-up Softail with a removable pillion. The studded, leather saddlebags are equipped with hidden quick-detach buckles. Full coverage front and rear fenders are laced with chrome.


The engine on the Heritage Softail Classic is a Twin Cam 96BTM that is air-cooled. Overhead valves with hydraulic, self-adjusting lifters are pushrod-operated. The engine contains two valves per cylinder. The displacement is 96 cubic inches and compression ratio is 9.2:1. The fuel system uses Electronic Sequential Port Fuel Injection. The air cleaner on this bike is washable. The lubrication system is dry-sump as well as pressurized. The clutch is a wet, multi-plate. The transmission is Harley's 6-speed Cruise Drive.

The chassis on this motorcycle utilizes a mild steel , tubular frame with a rectangular section backbone. Junctions on the chassis are stamped, cast, and forged. The harley motorcycle also has forged fender supports and is MIG welded. The swingarm is MIG welded and has round tube sections with forged junctions. Rear shocks are hidden, horizontal-mounted, coil overs. The caliper type on the brakes are 4-piston front and 2-piston rear. The rotors are patented and have uniform expansion.

Performance on the Heritage Softail Classic is a stout 92.20 ft. lbs at 3000 rpm. Fuel Economy is rated at 35 city and 54 highway. The battery on the bike is sealed as well as maintenance-free. It is a 12 volt with a three-phase charging system. The starter is electric with solenoid shift motor engagement. The headlamp produces a 55-watt low beam as well as a 60-watt high beam. Indicator lamps flash low oil pressure, engine diagnostics, low fuel warnings etc. Color options for the Softail Deluxe Classic include Vivid Black, Scarlet Red, Brilliant Silver Pearl, Flame Blue Pearl, and Red Hot Sunglo.

Two-tone colors available are Flame Blue Pearl/ Brilliant Silver Pearl. Custom colors available include Merlot Sunglo/ Cherry Red Sunglo as well as White Ice Pearl/ Black Ice Pearl.
Dimensions of this motorcycle include a length of 94.50 in., an overall width of 37.60 in., and an overall height of 55.20 in. Ground clearance is 5.10 inches, rake is 31 degrees and fork angle is 31 degrees. Tires are Dunlop Harley-Davidson Series, bias black wall for both front and rear. Fuel capacity on the bike is 5 gallons, oil capacity is 3.50 quarts, and transmission capacity is 1 quart.
